Peggy Lynn
Lopez (nee Davis)
September 14, 1956 – November 26, 2025
Peggy Lynn Lopez was born on September 14, 1956, in Saint Petersburg, Florida, to Betty Ann Burnette (née Davis). She later moved with her mother to New York before settling in Newark, New Jersey, where she grew up and graduated from Baringer High School in 1974.
In the fall of 1974, Peggy chose to serve her country by enlisting in the United States Army. She served honorably, carrying strength and resilience throughout her time in service. During this chapter of her life, she welcomed her first son, Dierre Antoine Lopez, and married Andrew Keith Oswald Haynes Lopez Sr.
As the years went on, Peggy continued to build her life and family, welcoming her second son, Andrew Lopez Jr. The family later spent time in Boston, Massachusetts, before returning to New Jersey and settling in Essex County, where her third son, Chad Robert Samuel Lopez, was born in Newark.
Peggy was known for her independent spirit and her desire to keep learning. She earned her associate’s degree from Essex County College and went on to obtain certifications in construction and real estate sales. Throughout her life, she worked in many fields, including early childhood education, sales, roofing and construction, postal delivery, and photo imaging.
Her life was guided by her Christian faith, which remained an important foundation for her. Alongside her faith, she valued education, took part in volunteering, and remained devoted to the people and experiences that shaped her journey.
Peggy passed away in November 2025 after facing complications from cancer.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Ann Burnette of Livingston, New Jersey; her former husband, Andrew Lopez Sr. of Brooklyn, New York; her sons, Dierre Lopez (Mrs. Barbra Lopez) of Washington State, and Andrew and Chad Lopez of Brooklyn, New York; her grandchildren, Ellis, Isabella, Sofia, and Dierre Lopez; her nieces, Qiana and MarSherre Smith of Akron, Ohio; her nephew, William Smith of Akron, Ohio; and many extended family members and friends who will continue to carry her memory.
Peggy’s life was one of strength, growth, and quiet determination. Her faith, her journey, and the love she shared will never be forgotten.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.”
She is loved. She is missed. She is remembered.
