Matthew T. Muniz died on Monday, March 16, 2026 at his residence. He was 59.

Born to Richard and Frances Muniz in Queens, NY, he resided in Bridgewater, NJ before settling in Somerville 16 years ago.

A graduate of Bridgewater-Raritan West and Somerset County Vo-Tech, he most recently worked as a maintenance technician.

Matthew will be lovingly remembered by his siblings: Patrick Muniz of Carmel, CA, David Muniz of New York, NYC, Louise Chmielewski of Kunkletown, PA, and Alice Muniz of Lewes, DE; and two nieces: Priscilla Miller and her husband Jeremiah of New Ringgold, PA; and Roxanne Wilhite and her husband Mason of Long Valley, NJ.

He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Frances; his brothers: Timothy Muniz and Mark Muniz; and by his nephew, Jesse Chmielewski.

Matthew enjoyed drawing and loved playing the drums – a hobby that turned into a lifelong passion. His drawings, music, and memory will live on through those who knew and loved him.
