Obituary

Louise Illiano passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was 95.

Born in Brooklyn, she was a lifelong resident and lived most of her life in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood that she loved.

Louise was such a soft and caring woman who, above all, was committed to her family. A graduate of Erasmus High School on Flatbush Avenue, Louise dreamed of becoming a teacher. A sign of the times, she sacrificed her desire to teach in order to help provide for her family. She will always be remembered for the love and care she gave to them throughout the years, sometimes in "Bethany," Brooklyn, or New Jersey. Louise loved gambling (i.e.: Atlantic City, horse racing/OTB, scratch offs, and bingo). She also loved crosswords and everything on the Game Show Network. In her earlier years, she loved walking down Nostrand Avenue and shopping. Louise was a devout Catholic who prayed the rosary every day. Her faith granted her peace in difficult times and allowed her the comfort to find reason in the most arduous moments in her life.

Louise was an avid Brooklyn Dodgers and Mets fan. She was a devoted fan for her entire life and cheered on the Mets until she passed.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Ernest Illiano; her parents: Mary and Joseph Miliante; and by her brother, Michael Miliante.

Surviving are her dedicated and loving daughter, Carol Giustino and her husband, Dominick; her grandchildren: Sara Giustino and her fiance Frank Galante, and Lily Giustino; and her great-grandchildren: William & Valerie Toland; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 4-8PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Toms River, NJ. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 10:30AM at St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, Brooklyn, NY. Interment followed at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
